The System for Award Management (SAM) is a Federal Government owned and operated free web site that consolidates the capabilities in CCR/FedReg, ORCA, and EPLS. Future phases of SAM will add the capabilities of other systems used in Federal procurement and awards processes. The Alabama APEX Accelerator does not control

SAM was designed to reduce the burden on those seeking to do business with the government. Vendors can log into one system to manage their entity information in one record, with one expiration date, through one streamlined business process. Federal agencies can look in one place for entity pre-award information.

As one might imagine, replacing the 9 siloed legacy systems previously used in federal procurement with one system, while trying to ensure a smooth transition, was a daunting task.

APEX Procurement specialists helped Alabama’s small business community throughout SAM’s launch and the initial migration period.  Today, we help companies register and update their SAM information every day. We understand that your business is facing deadlines and you don’t have time to wait on hold for simple answers.  Our specialists are well-versed in how SAM works (and is supposed to work), and have been interacting with the new site since its launch.

Please use only the website to register and update the SAM.

  • If you Google SAM, you may encounter another website (“US Contractor Registration”) that appears to be an official government website. However, this is a commercial vendor that offers an array of services to government contractors for a fee of up to $599.
  • A company in Florida sends e-mails from Renewal Support and indicates your SAM registration is about to expire. They charge between $499 and $999 for “renewal services.”
  • A company in Texas is also sending out notifications that mimic the SAM logo and look official. These emails are sent from Renewal Support.

Remember, the official website is free. Use only this website when registering/updating the SAM.
