Ms. Lindsay S. Frey,  APEX Alabama Program Manager

After several years as a Procurement Specialist at the APEX Accelerator of Alabama at JSU, Lindsay was hired as the statewide APEX Program Manager at the University of Alabama.  Lindsay has offices in Birmingham and Jacksonville.  Before joining the APEX Accelerator, she spent two years in the Anniston Army Depot’s Contracting Office, mainly assisting in the Office of Small Business Programs.  Lindsay also offers eleven years of experience in sales, marketing, and community outreach to assist her clients.  She ran her family’s jewelry business for seven years and was a marketing manager/community outreach manager for a large chain of non-profit dental offices in the area for four years.  Lindsay is a 2004 JSU graduate with a B.S. in Marketing.  She is a Leadership Calhoun County and Leadership Cleburne County graduate.  Lindsay is married to her husband, Tom and has a daughter named Scarlett.

Ms. Mazah Grimes, Procurement Advisor

Mazah Grimes is a Government Procurement Specialist with the APEX Accelerator of Alabama Program based in Jacksonville State University and co-located in the Small Business Development Center.  As a 2022 graduate of Auburn University, Ms. Grimes obtained a Master of Public Administration and Master of Community Planning in addition to a Graduate Certificate in Economic Development. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication with a concentration in Public Relations in 2020 from Jacksonville State University.

Mr. Ken Grissom, Center Director /  Procurement Advisor

Ken Grissom joined the JSU team in 2011. Utilizing his business background has allowed Ken to bring first-hand knowledge to those he counsels. He has many years’ experience in the restaurant industry and also commercial development. Ken has an MBA and a BS degree in Accounting, both from Jacksonville State University. The Alabama SBDC recognized him for assisting the most businesses created during 2012. Ken was awarded the ASBDC Alabama State Star in 2013 for his contributions to the small business community. He is VA-certified CVE Verification Counselor, Alabama SBDC Network Certified Business Advisor, and a Certified Procurement and Technical Assistance Counselor. He is a charter member of the Board of Directors for the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame and also serves as a team captain for Relay for Life. Ken and his wife Julia live in Piedmont. They have two grown sons and one grandson.
