DUNS to UEID Changeover

The DUNS to UEID Changeover is scheduled effective April 4th 2022. There are two issues that you should be aware of:

1. How do you change your address in SAM after 4/4/22? We know how to effect an address change using DUNS, but do not yet have guidance for making a change in SAM in the post-DUNS reality. For more clarification:

The Federal Service Desk Knowledge Base includes the following guidance “Help For the Transition from UEI (DUNS) to UEI (SAM)”.  Further inquiries about UEIs may be directed to entityvalidation@gsa.gov . In reviewing the Knowledge Base and GSA’s Integrated Award Environment (IAE) Industry Community, there is no mention of DSBS and nothing is officially being reported by SBA.

2. Expect server downtime. Per a posting at GSA’s Integrated Award Environment (IAE) Industry Community Federal Award Community, companies should plan for downtime in SAM.gov and Other Award Related Systems during the DUNS Number to Unique Entity ID Transition.

Plan Ahead! – Starting Monday, April 4, 2022, the new Unique Entity ID from SAM.gov will be the official, government-wide identifier used for federal awards. As we prepare our systems for this requirement, expect intermittent system downtime across our entire portfolio (SAM.gov, FPDS.gov, eSRS.gov, FSRS.gov, FAPIIS.gov, and CPARS.gov). The downtime will occur the weekend prior to April 4, 2022, as we deploy the front-end and back-end changes to remove the DUNS Number and to change service providers for entity validation. IAE will publish specific maintenance windows closer to the cut-over date. IAE recommends that federal awarding officials avoid planning key award lifecycle activities from March 31, 2022, to April 5, 2022, to allow time for our system changes and for your systems to confirm connectivity following the cut-over.

SAM.gov is currently updating their website. If you are unable to refresh your D&B data or getting an error message when registering, please contact the Federal Service Desk at 866-606-8220.
